This is a harmonica with octave tuning (the upper row of 20 holes is tuned one octave below the lower row of 20). When the 2 rows are played at the same time this creates an effect of 2 harmonicas simultaneously playing the same melody. This enables a single player to achieve a stronger, full-bodied sound not possible while playing a standard diatonic.Echo harmonicas offer comfortable curved mouthpieces with traditional wood combs. The chrome-plated covers have turned-in ends for extra style and sound. Key of C.

 "Sweet music!" 2008-02-09
By J. Lopez (Wyo, MI)
I've had two lower end harmonicas, but this one is pure quality. Playing the harmonica really hasn't been fluent until I got this harmonica with it's deep and not too high pitch range. I enjoy playing the harmonica more than ever since I got this one, playing along side Johnny Cash on my Zune. You should try it!

The Echo Double Sided series has been a favorite since the turn of the century. Beautifully stamped covers enclose the reeds of this tremolo model and provide a common tone chamber. This reinforces sympathetic resonance between the sides and lends a deep, haunting quality to the music.

"Haven't a clue how to play it but it sounds lovely!" 2008-12-06
By Elizabeth A Triano (In Transition, NY (watch this space))
We got one of these for my late father-in-law a number of years ago, and now it has come back to us. None of us know the "right" way to play it, but it has a lovely, layered sound that is delightful just to play any old way. It's a lovely intrument.

For more than a century, these double-sided harmonicas have been a player favorite. Two keys are available on each individual instrument. The Echo?s precision tuned reeds create a beautifully blended vibrato tone. The double row of holes on Tremolo Harmonicas creates music with a distinctive vibrating (vibrato) effect. This is produced by the bottom row of holes and the top row of holes being played at the same time and tuned to the same note, with the top row tuned just slightly higher. This special tuning enables the player to make the tremolo sound which is especially popular for ballads, gospel and folk music.

"Don't listen to the last reviewer" 2009-02-11
By James Marks
This is a nice 20 hole tremello, key of C on one side, G on the oter. Has beautiful tones, very easy to hit descrete notes and harmonies. Have no idea what the last guy was rambling about, but I can strongly recomend this harmonica.

 "Harmonica" 2009-10-26

It came when they said it would I am happy with it.

 "not as shown" 2008-03-06
By B. Tiplady (Cape Charles, VA)
The echo tremolo received is not like the picture which shows smooth rounded ends. The harmonica received has two screws..one on each end which actually stick out and they make it more difficult to hold. l Recommend this for little children and not serious harpists.

 "Great Harp" 2009-07-29
By Joseph P. Lacerra
I am by no means an accomplished musician. But, I can hack through quite a few songs for my own enjoyment on this Hohner Tremolo version. I found this unit easy to play, and to have a nice full tone. It is not shrill or scratchy. And it is large enough (has enough notes) for a novice like myself to be able to tackle many songs that I could not on my smaller Blues Band unit. Go for it!
