 "Not very good..." 2009-06-30
By Alejandro E. Gonzalez (Miami Fl. USA)
I got so upset when the uke got to my house....

the quality of the wood is not good, mines had like little chips on the bottom right on the edge..

i didnt mind so much about that, but when i was finally able to tune the damn thing, it didnt sound very good. it has a very dull sound. the instrument is bad.

thats why (for lack of a lower number) i gave it a 1

 "an incredible deal" 2009-06-12
By Anne-genevieve Bacon (San Francisco, CA)
This ukulele has consistently blown me away.

When I first received it, I was wary because it wasn't staying in tune, but I was leaving on a long trip, which is why I'd bought it, and had to bring it with me. After about three days of playing it, it warmed up and now the only thing that will de-tune it is my three year old cousin playing with the tuning knobs.

I play this thing hard; I play it soft; I play it all the way up and down the neck and it stays in tune. This makes it particularly useful when I am using it in performance scenarios, with other instruments, either electric or acoustic. Now and again I have to check in on the C string (I have it tuned as a soprano) as it interestingly can go sharp sometimes, but it really isn't an issue.

The mahogany body is both beautiful and resilient, providing a warm and resonant sound and surviving trips to the Middle East, Africa and now the eastern USA. If you want to see/hear it in action - here is a video of the first song I wrote on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_URutpwlzv4

 "Good Starter" 2009-06-11
By M. Hammond (Florida)
For the price, this is a good buy. If you're a professional musician, you know you're not going get a high quality string instrument for this price. That being said, I was very happy with the warm tone and playability of the OU2. The intonation was fine up and down the fret board. Good tuners that kept it in tune. Nice solid neck with smooth frets. I changed to higher quality strings and got an even better sound. I prefer the sound of the OU2 to some of the entry level Kalas, Lanikais, and even Cordobas ($200+). On the down side, the back of the body had several rough edges. These caught on my clothing and little chunks ripped out of the ukulele. I sanded the edges to prevent further splintering. This sanded away some of stain leaving me with a multi colored ukulele. I emailed the company and they said the new OU2's have been improved to address this issue. Unfortunately, I have one of the new OU2's. Hopefully they will keep working to fix this, because otherwise it was a very good buy.

 "Fun Uku" 2009-04-11

Fun Ukulele for a first timer at a good price. C string has a tendency to go out of tune often, but other than that, it's great fun.

 "Oscar Schmidt OU2 Ukelele = CHEAP" 2009-02-09
By Julian Russell (Gainesville, VA)
This Ukelele is extremely cheap. The wood is extremely low grade and very thin. My Ukelele promptly cracked down the side of the body as soon as it was tuned up and playing began. The OU2 Ukelele constantly goes out of tune. Don't waste your money on it. Buy a high quality Ukelele, so you won't be disappointed.
